Infographic: Prescriber Perceptions of an Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution Program
A new article published in the July 2018 issue of the Journal of Public Health Management & Practice looks at increased efforts to tackle the opioid epidemic by developing more overdose education and naloxone distribution (ONED) programs. Author Alyssa Peckham and colleagues survey prescribers’ attitudes and comfort levels dispensing naloxone, and find that barriers to OEND implementation continue to exist as not all clinicians or practice specialties are comfortable dispensing the drug. Analysis to identify barriers and perform targeted education may allow for enhanced acceptance and greater naloxone dissemination. Read more about the results in their article, “A Survey of Prescribers’ Attitudes, Knowledge, Comfort, and Fear of Consequences Related to an Opioid Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution Program.”
