Kevin Kovach, DrPH, MSc

Dr. Kevin A. Kovach is an experienced social epidemiologist and public health services and systems researcher. He leads the Kansas Health Institute’s public health services and systems portfolio, where he provides strategic guidance, develops translational tools, and conducts practice-based research. Additionally, Dr. Kovach serves as an adjunct instructor for the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program where he teaches epidemiology and quantitative research for leadership. Dr. Kovach also serves as a policy co-chair for the National Association of Doctors of Public Health and as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice.

Prior to KHI, Dr. Kovach served as Senior Manager for Population and Community Health at the American Academy of Family Physicians, where he was instrumental in developing the Center for Diversity and Health Equity, advancing primary care and public health integration, and conducting applied research. He also has substantial experience working with state and local health departments in Michigan, Missouri, and Kansas.

Dr. Kovach received a Doctorate in Public Health Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Research from Kansas State University.
