JPHMP Is Celebrating 30 Years of Honoring the Voices of Public Health Practitioners

In 2025, the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice (JPHMP) proudly celebrates three decades of amplifying the voices of public health practitioners, researchers, and leaders. Since its founding in 1995 by Dr. Lloyd F. Novick, JPHMP has served as a vital platform for advancing public health knowledge and sharing practical solutions that improve the health and well-being of communities across the United States and abroad.
A Legacy of Excellence
For 30 years, JPHMP has provided an indispensable bridge between public health research and real-world practice. Known for its rigorous peer-reviewed articles and special issues on emerging topics, the journal has consistently championed innovative practices, evidence-based solution, and the dissemination of critical public health information. From tackling the opioid epidemic to managing public health crises like COVID-19, JPHMP has been at the forefront of addressing pressing public health challenges.
Elevating Practitioner Voices
One of the journal’s hallmarks is its commitment to honoring the voices of public health practitioners. These professionals work on the frontlines of health departments, non-profits, and community organizations, implementing the policies and programs that shape our collective health. By publishing their insights, lessons learned, and innovative approaches, JPHMP has ensured that their contributions are not only recognized but also shared widely to inform and inspire others.
Partnering for Public Health Transformation
Over the years, JPHMP has fostered enduring partnerships with organizations that share its mission, including the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), the de Beaumont Foundation (both sponsors of the journal), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), Big Cities Health Coalition, HRSA, Trust for America’s Health, and many others. These collaborations have resulted in impactful initiatives leading to critical research on workforce development, health department accreditation, disease surveillance and prevention, emergency preparedness, community health assessment, and more.
Looking Ahead
As JPHMP marks this milestone anniversary, we are more committed than ever to serving as a trusted resource for the public health community. The journal will continue to evolve to meet the changing needs of practitioners, offering new formats and tools to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas. With the inclusion of JPHMP Direct and its evolving inventory of resources, we are embracing innovative ways to reach diverse audiences and foster meaningful dialogue.
