Call for Thought Leadership Commentaries and Blog Articles

The Journal of Public Health Management and Practice is seeking thought leadership commentaries and blog articles that highlight critical public health issues that the next US presidential administration will be required to address. We seek perspectives from across the political spectrum on emerging topics such as the role (positive or negative) that Artificial Intelligence (AI) may have on public health, the impact of pharmaceutical discoveries on chronic diseases and their comorbidities, closely watched infectious diseases and preparedness efforts to mitigate their spread, the health impacts of climate change, and other pressing public health issues. This series is intended to promote dialogue. Views that may be expressed in this series should not be deemed as those of the editors, the journal, its publisher, or affiliates.

Commentaries of 1,500 words (or fewer) may be written by 1-3 experts on a topic and offer a single (or collective) opinion or perspective. Authors may include important takeaways for the field or an appeal for action to be taken. The opinions presented should be supported by relevant research but do not require the level of documentation expected in a research article. An abstract is not required, nor is an Implications for Policy & Practice Section. Authors may include 1 table or figure. Additional tables/figures may be included as supplemental digital content.

Commentaries should be submitted to the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice via Editorial Manager. Authors must agree to all terms and copyright requirements of our publisher, Wolters Kluwer.

Blog articles of 1,500 words (or fewer) may be written by 1-3 experts on a pressing public health topic deemed appropriate for rapid online publication. As with commentaries, opinions presented should be supported by peer-reviewed scientific research and include key takeaways and action items for practitioners and others in the field. Authors may include tables, figures, graphs, infographics, and photographs for which they have documented permission to use.

Completed blog articles should be emailed to jphmpeditor at gmail dot com. No remuneration will be given. Authors retain copyright to their work and are solely responsible for its contents. Only accepted articles will receive a response. Please allow 4 weeks for decisions. If you have not heard from us within 4 weeks, it is safe to assume your work was not accepted.

Deadline: Submissions will be accepted through October 1, 2024.
