Citing Supplemental Digital Content (SDC) in the Manuscript File
If you are including supplemental digital content (SDC) in your manuscript submission, please ensure that you adhere to the following guidelines:
Call Out SDC in the Text
Supplemental Digital Content must be cited consecutively in the text of the submitted manuscript. Citations should include the type of material submitted (Table, Figure, Appendix etc.), should be clearly labeled as “Supplemental Digital Content,” include the sequential list number, and should provide a description of the supplemental content. All descriptive text should be included in the call-out as it will not appear elsewhere in the text.
- We performed many tests on the degrees of flexibility in the elbow (see Figure, Supplemental Digital Content 1, which demonstrates the degrees of flexibility in the elbow) and found our results inconclusive.
- Society has found a rising cost in knee replacement surgery (see Table, Supplemental Digital Content 2, which illustrates the rise in cost of knee replacement surgery) since the late 1980s.
Provide a List of All SDC
A complete list of supplemental digital content must be submitted at the end of the manuscript file. List each SDC file in the order in which the material is cited in the text. The items should be numbered to match call-outs included in the manuscript. Include the SDC number and file type of the supplemental digital content.
