Jessica Kronstadt, MPP

Jessica Kronstadt, MPP, is the Director of Research and Evaluation at the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), which administers the national, voluntary accreditation program for state, Tribal, local, and territorial health departments. In that role, she is responsible for evaluation activities in order to inform continuous improvement of the accreditation program and to foster better understanding of its impact. She also supports efforts to build the evidence base around accreditation. This entails analyzing administrative data generated through the accreditation program, making such data available to other researchers, and maintaining the accreditation research agenda. She is also overseeing efforts to systematically track research related to the accreditation Standards & Measures.

Prior to coming to PHAB, she was a Research Scientist at NORC at the University of Chicago. She conducted research on a number of public health services and systems topics including governance structure, Tribal public health, financing, and accreditation. She also studied insurance benefit design, health information technology, and the rural health workforce. Previously, she worked for the Public Health Foundation, focusing on workforce issues. She has also conducted research for the National Academy for State Health Policy and the Urban Institute.

She received her Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University. She has written numerous articles and presentations on public health systems research topics and was one of the guest editors for the Journal of Public Health Management & Practice’s special issue on accreditation in 2014.
