Jason S. Brinkley, PhD, MS, MA is a Senior Researcher and Biostatistician at Abt Associates Inc. where he works on a wide variety of data for health services, policy, and disparities research. He maintains a research affiliation with the North Carolina Agromedicine Institute and serves on the executive committee for the NC Chapter of the American Statistical Association and the Southeast SAS Users Group. Prior to joining Abt Associates Inc., he was a Senior Researcher and Biostatistician at the American Institutes for Research (AIR), a non-profit contract research organization headquartered in Washington, DC. His work, out of Chapel Hill, NC, focused on applying the statistical analysis and data visualization to a wide variety of health-related data with special focus on health services, policy, and disparities. Earlier, Dr. Brinkley spent almost 8 years as faculty in the department of biostatistics at East Carolina University (ECU) teaching and collaborating on a wide range of research in health, education, business, and many other areas. Dr. Brinkley’s methodological expertise spans a wide area of the statistical sciences but also encompasses custom data visualization, machine learning methods, and statistical consulting. Dr. Brinkley has consulted for a wide range of groups and has previous experience on projects with SAS Institute, Smithfield Farms, Duke University, GlaxoSmithKline, and the North Carolina Public Health Foundation. Dr. Brinkley received a Dean’s Service Award in 2012 from ECU for statistical consulting and a 2016 Service Award from the American Statistical Association for his efforts working with the North Carolina Statistics community. He serves on the executive committee for the NC Chapter of the American Statistical Association and the Southeast SAS Users Group. Dr. Brinkley has been funded by a wide range of sources including the National Institutes of Health and the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services. He has served as a grant reviewer for the NIH, FDA, and the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). He received his PhD from North Carolina State University.
